Scholarship Program

When money is tight, you still deserve answers.

Gastro in Florida is the only gastroenterology practice in Okeechobee County, and we know some of our neighbors delay care simply because they cannot afford the first visit. Our Scholarship Program exists for them: each month, we set aside a small number of free consultation appointments for patients facing genuine financial hardship.

What the program covers

• A consultation with Dr. Tarugu at no charge — we will listen, review your symptoms and records, and explain your options and next steps.
• Honest guidance on the lowest-cost path forward if you need testing or a procedure.

What it cannot cover

Procedures such as colonoscopy and endoscopy require anesthesia and medical supplies that we must pay for, so we cannot offer procedures for free. If a procedure is recommended, we will tell you the exact cost up front — nothing is scheduled without your agreement.

How it works

• Scholarship appointments are limited each month and are approved case by case, based on financial need.
• Call us at (863) 824-3447 and mention the Scholarship Program. Our office will explain how to apply and what is needed.
• If the current month’s scholarship appointments are filled, we can place you on the list for the following month or offer you the earliest regular appointment.

If cost is the reason you have been putting off care, please call. Asking is free — and so, for a limited number of patients each month, is the consultation.
